This luscious, savory tart, created by Kathie Watson especially for the Real Women of Philadelphia's cooking contest hosted by the cooking diva, Paula Deen, is so impressive it will be the talk of the town, the hit of the party, and your new go to appetizer for the spring and summer. It combines homemade fragrant basil pesto lightened with Philadelphia Cream Cheese on top of a golden puff pastry topped with red, ripe tomatoes, kalamata olives, dollops of cream cheese and basil chiffonade. It is a perfect appetizer for a family get together before the steaks go on the grill or the pasta is plated. The great thing about this is that it can be made ahead and served at room temperature or reheated. It is delightful paired with nice Italian wines such as Chianti or Pinot Grigio or Italian sparkling mineral water!
